Our Mission
AusToday was founded on a simple conviction: that great health and science journalism should be available to every Australian. In an information landscape crowded with speculation, sensationalism and oversimplification, we are committed to reporting on health, science, nature and lifestyle with accuracy, nuance and genuine respect for our readers' intelligence.
We draw on research published in peer-reviewed journals, expert commentary from scientists and clinicians at leading Australian and international institutions, and our own editorial analysis to produce coverage that is both reliable and genuinely engaging.
What We Cover
Our editorial team covers a broad range of topics of direct relevance to readers across Australia:
- Health & Wellness – from nutrition and fitness science to clinical research and practical wellbeing advice for Australians
- Natural Sciences – biology, ecology and the extraordinary biodiversity of Australia's unique landscapes and oceans
- Science & Technology – the human implications of advances in artificial intelligence, computing and engineering
- Finance & Lifestyle – practical guidance on managing household finances, property and everyday living costs in Australia
- Environment & Nature – conservation, sustainability and the science behind efforts to protect Australia's natural world
Our Editorial Standards
Every article published on AusToday is subject to editorial review before publication. We do not publish content that has not been assessed for factual accuracy by a member of our editorial team. Where research findings are reported, we accurately represent the strength of the evidence, distinguish between correlation and causation, and include appropriate caveats regarding the limitations of individual studies.
We do not accept payment for editorial coverage. Our commercial relationships — including display advertising and subscription services — are kept strictly separate from our editorial operations. Advertisers have no influence over editorial content.
Subscriptions
AusToday is supported by a combination of digital advertising and reader subscriptions. A free tier provides access to a selection of articles each month. Premium subscribers receive unlimited access to all content, an ad-free reading experience and a daily email newsletter. We believe sustainable journalism requires a direct relationship with readers, and we are grateful to everyone who chooses to support our work through a subscription.
Corrections Policy
We take accuracy seriously. When errors are identified in published articles, we correct them promptly and transparently. Significant corrections are noted within the body of the relevant article. If you believe you have identified an error in our reporting, please contact us at outlook@discountsod.org.au.
